The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India is abbreviated as FSSAI. Any food business must first obtain an FSSAI license. This restriction is outlined in the 2006 Food Safety and Standards Act. The government is taking this action to ensure that food products go through specific quality checks, which will lower the likelihood of adulteration, improve the quality of the products, and increase manufacturer accountability.
A new law known as the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006, which went into effect in 2011, has resulted in stricter labeling requirements, which have caused the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), the regulatory body under the health ministry that oversees the import of food items to ensure quality, to block several consignments of packaged food.

Each of the three categories of FSSAI licensing—Basic Registration, State Registration, and Central Registration—has a validity period ranging from one to five years. The license must be renewed thirty days prior to the original license expiring. The same plan may be used for renewal as well.
Every issued FSSAI license is location-specific. You must submit separate registration applications for each location if you operate more than one business.
